Nitin Kumar and Ankit Goenka will represent India in June’s BetVictor World Cup of Darts, after coming through last weekend’s qualifiers in Kolkata.
Kumar won two of the three qualifying events to confirm his place in Frankfurt, as he prepares to make his third World Cup appearance at the Eissporthalle.
The 40-year-old became the first Indian player to triumph at the World Darts Championship in December, and he cemented his status as the nation’s premier player with a series of dominant displays on home soil.
Kumar powered his way to victory in Saturday’s opening event, surrendering four legs in just six matches and dispatching Goenka 5-1 to take the title.
‘The Royal Bengal’ won the Event Two Qualifier in similarly emphatic style, conceding just three legs across the tournament and whitewashing Vikehelie Suohu to double his title tally.
Aayush Kothari then rounded off the weekend’s action with victory in Qualifier Three, defeating Goenka 5-2 in Sunday’s showpiece.
However, Goenka’s consistency throughout the weekend – which saw him feature in a brace of finals and the Event Two semi-finals – saw him finish second on the overall rankings behind Kumar.
The 2026 World Cup of Darts will take place from June 11-14 in Frankfurt, and features 40 pairs of players representing their nation.
Reigning champions Northern Ireland will headline this year’s tournament following their historic triumph last year, as the pairs compete for a boosted £500,000 prize fund.
